Is it safe to clip a hedgehog's spikes?
I've never had a hedgehog before... and now that I do... I want to hold him like I do all my other pets... he's pretty tame... but getting him out of his terrarium is a task... he flexes all his spikes, and at the slightest touch, he puffs up and kinda hisses.... once he's out though... he's fine, but the spikes are still a problem.... can I use a pair of baby nail clippers to clip the top part of the spike off? will this hurt the animal? will they grow back to a point?

Don't cut his spikes.
Just keep handling him gently and he will eventually get used to you. Hedgehogs hand be huffy, especially just after they wake up. So don't try to handle him immediately after he wakes up, let him go about his business first.
It takes time and patience to get him to trust you.
